Affiliate disclosure

Last updated: August 2026.

In accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), this page discloses the material connection between BacktestScore and some of the products reviewed on this site.

The short version

Some links on BacktestScore are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up for or purchase a product, we may earn a commission. You pay nothing extra: the price is the same with or without our link. These commissions fund the site's operation, including data verification and benchmark infrastructure.

What this does and does not affect

  • Rankings and scores are never for sale. Scores are produced by the published methodology, meaning executed benchmarks, verified specs, and a fixed weighted rubric, and they are finalized before any monetization decision is made. Whether a vendor has an affiliate program, and how much it pays, has no input into any score, ranking, pro, con, or verdict.
  • We rank products that pay us nothing. Several platforms we cover, including free open-source libraries such as Backtrader and Zipline Reloaded, have no affiliate program at all. They are scored by the identical rubric and hold some of the highest cost-value scores on the site.
  • Negative findings stay published. Earning a commission from a vendor does not soften that vendor's cons, benchmark failures, or reported reliability issues.

How to identify affiliate links

Pages containing affiliate links carry a disclosure notice near the top, before any such link appears. Outbound links to vendors from review, comparison, and pricing pages should be assumed to be affiliate links unless stated otherwise.

Affiliate terms are data too

Where relevant to readers, we treat affiliate and referral terms as facts to verify and date-stamp like any other spec. If we state a vendor's affiliate terms anywhere on the site, they carry a last-verified date like every price.

Questions

If anything about our commercial relationships is unclear, contact us and we will clarify or update this page. See also our editorial policy for how commercial and editorial decisions are kept separate.

Minerva

BacktestScore has a commercial interest in Minerva (minerva1.com), which we link to across the site. Minerva is a strategy-validation platform, and it does contain a backtesting engine of its own, so it overlaps with the category we score. We do not score products we have a commercial interest in. Minerva is therefore excluded from every ranking, score and comparison on this site, and it is labelled as ours wherever it appears rather than presented as an editorial pick. No review, score or verdict for a ranked tool is influenced by that relationship.
